Environmental Policy
iMusic is committed to minimising the impact of our activities on the
environment. The key points of our strategy to achieve this are:
-
Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as
efficient as possible.
-
Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst its customers
and suppliers.
-
Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to the
Company.
-
Use an accredited program to offset the greenhouse gas emissions
generated by our activities.
Activities Summary
The range of waste material we produce or accumulate, including paper,
plastic, cardboard, compact discs and used consumables, are all recycled
locally.
In the case of our waste compact discs, we send them to a dedicated
recycling plant in Manchester where they break up the discs into their
constituent parts. In this way, even the minimal amounts of gold, silver
or aluminium are recovered. The plastics are chipped and sold for reuse.
iMusic is proud to support local schools by donating our waste ink
cartridges and toners to their sponsored recycling program.
In an effort to offset our carbon footprint, we are part of a tree
planting initiative run by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. In our
first year we plan to donate 24 trees the equivalent of around 16
tonnes. We intend to further our offset in the following years.
And of course our daily energy consumption is kept to a minimum using
energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.
